Game 1 VS PULSE
Our clash with London Pulse saw Jamie Van Wyk make her first competitive appearance in Mavericks colours. Pulse struck first, opening the scoring and quickly building an early advantage. A tense, low-scoring opening seven minutes reflected the intensity of the contest, with the half-time score sitting at 6–3 in Pulse’s favour.
Emily Andrew was introduced into the attack in the second half as Mavericks looked to close the gap, but Pulse continued to edge the key battles across the court. A late Super Shot from Andrew sparked brief hope of a comeback, yet the deficit proved too much to overturn.

Game 2 VS RHINOS
Our second fixture saw us face Leeds Rhinos, who had impressed in their opener against Manchester Thunder. After a fast start from the Yorkshire side, Mavericks were forced to dig deep defensively and through the midcourt to disrupt Rhinos’ attacking flow.
The second half told a different story. Mavericks went toe-to-toe, with Emily Andrew and George Inger linking well to create space in the circle and convert opportunities. The comeback gathered momentum in the closing minutes, and Mavericks levelled the scores with seconds remaining in what was a statement second-half performance.

Game 3 VS THUNDER
In our third and final fixture, Mavericks delivered a statement performance against Manchester Thunder. Sharp from the first whistle, the defensive unit set the tone while the attack operated with precision. Emily Andrew steadily built scoreboard pressure with a mix of one- and two-point shots, while Izzi Phillips dominated the midcourt, forcing turnovers and covering ground relentlessly. Mavericks led 7–3 at the break.
The second half brought more of the same. Jemma Donoghue entered the game seamlessly, and Andrew’s back-to-back Super Shots stretched the lead further. That momentum flowed straight into defence, with nothing getting past Jamie Van Wyk and Razia Quashie.
