First Quarter
Mavericks exploded out of the blocks with real intent, setting the tone from the very first whistle. Izzi Phillips made an immediate impact with a stunning intercept within seconds of the centre pass, sparking a wave of momentum that quickly propelled Mavericks into a commanding five-goal lead. The intensity on court was matched by an electric atmosphere inside HSV, with the crowd roaring the team forward from the outset. However, Forest found their footing towards the end of the quarter, capitalising on key opportunities to narrow the gap. Q1: Mavericks 14 – Forest 16

Second Quarter
Mavericks maintained their hunger as the second quarter got underway, determined to stay within striking distance. Defensively, Razia Quashie was a standout performer—anchoring the back line with a masterclass in positioning and timing. She combined superbly with Jemma Donoghue to stabilise the defensive unit. Despite this resilience, Forest found moments of brilliance, particularly through Rolene Streutker, the NSL’s leading Super Shot scorer. Streutker proved a handful for the Mavericks defence, remaining flawless in her shooting and using the Super Shot to devastating effect. Forest’s late surge saw them extend their advantage heading into half-time. HT: Mavericks 23 – Forest 29

Third Quarter
Following a challenging end to the first half, Mavericks came out with renewed purpose. Suzie Liversidge’s vision and creativity in the midcourt opened up new attacking channels, while Izzi Phillips continued her standout performance with crucial interceptions that shifted the momentum back in Mavericks’ favour. The turning point came just before the 40-minute mark, when Mavericks not only equalised but took the lead moments later. The introduction of Amy Hepworth-Wain added further control and balance through the centre third—just as she has done consistently throughout the season. With the crowd in full voice, Mavericks dominated the quarter in every area of the court. Emily Andrew was ice-cool under the post, converting with precision to cap off a near-perfect 15-minute spell. Q3: Mavericks 43 – Forest 33

Fourth Quarter
With a 10-goal cushion and the crowd behind them, Mavericks showed maturity and composure in the final quarter to close out the game. Forest, despite their efforts, could not claw their way back into contention. The intensity, energy, and cohesion on display from the home side made it one of the most complete performances of the season—and at one of the most critical moments. This crucial win keeps our playoff hopes alive and edges us closer to securing a spot in the top four.
