London Mavericks fans, get ready to witness the return of a powerhouse! Razia Quashie, the indomitable Goalkeeper who has racked up 106 appearances, is back for the 2025 season, ready to dominate the court once again. Born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines but raised as a Maverick through and through, Razia steps into this season with the same hunger and drive that have made her one of the most feared defenders in the league.

A one-club-woman and a defensive titan, Quashie’s name is synonymous with excellence. Widely regarded as one of the league’s finest—and arguably one of the world’s best—Goalkeepers, her leadership and unrelenting intensity will be crucial in shutting down opposition attacks this season. She’s not just a player, she’s a force, and opposing shooters better take notice.

Reflecting on what it means to wear the Mavericks jersey, Quashie shared:

“It’s the relentlessness and the ability to be unique and work together to overcome, that just describes the Mavericks and shows that we’ve been through hard times, but we’re still here. We’re still standing, and we’ve always overcome whatever adversities and trials that we’ve had to.”

Her resilience and unwavering loyalty to the Mavericks are as legendary as her on-court prowess. For Razia, the decision to return was about more than just netball—it was about committing to her Mavericks family.

“This year, I think this year is my 10th season being a Maverick. I just think it’s my safe place. I’ve been through two ruptured Achilles here, and they just know how to take care of people. They’ve looked after me over the years. I’m very grateful for all the trust and the belief that they have in me; I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Quashie’s incredible journey hasn’t gone unnoticed by those around her. Director of Netball, Tamsin Greenway, couldn’t be more thrilled to have her back, praising Razia’s grit and tenacity.

“Her mental resilience is incredible. Her fight is incredible. The way she just gets on with the job when she’s had so much going on around her is incredible. And I think that’s the kind of person you want at the back, right? You want to be looking at that person knowing she’s going to give it her all. She’s committed to stay at Mavs, she said all the way along, she wants to win things with Mavs. She wants to do something special here, and we want to give her that platform to do that.”

This year marks a new chapter for English netball, as the Netball Super League takes its biggest leap toward full professionalism. Quashie can’t wait for these changes in the NSL.

I’m really excited to feel the atmosphere at each team’s home venue, how many fans they can bring in, and how loud it can get. I think it’s one thing playing in a sports hall, but actually seeing an arena with that noise and that anticipation to actually get out there and play. It’s going to be amazing.”

But for Razia, the excitement begins long before the first whistle. Her favourite part of game day? The electric buzz in the changing room. The anticipation, the energy, the collective drive to step onto the court and put on a performance worthy of the Mavericks name.

Razia Quashie is back, and with her return comes renewed hope, fierce competition, and the promise of an unforgettable 2025 season. Mavericks fans, it’s time to gear up—this season is going to be one for the history books.
