The Mavericks Progression Funnel: Your Journey Starts in Futures
This season, 1,215 players trialed for our Futures programme — the first stop on the Mavericks Express. From there, 136 Futures athletes were invited to trial for our Player Development Programme (PDP), with 38 players ultimately selected into PDP squads and 2 players progressing all the way to our Academy.
But the journey doesn’t end there.
Through mid-season in-house trials and ongoing Talent ID at tournaments, an additional 14 Futures athletes have already progressed into our PDP environment this year. The message is clear: opportunity doesn’t stop at trials.
The Mavericks Express makes regular stops at Talent ID events, competitions, and tournaments, ensuring players continue to have pathways to be seen, recognised, and elevated.
