Sophie Egbaran is an exciting young GS/GA who returns to London Mavericks after an impressive rise through the domestic and international pathway. Beginning her career in the Wasps pathway before representing Central Warriors U21s, Egbaran was named Player of the Season after averaging 10 goals per quarter across the 2023 Netball Performance League campaign. She made her Netball Super League debut with Mavericks in 2024 before gaining further experience with Leeds Rhinos and Birmingham Panthers.
Sophie reflects on her decision to return to Mavericks and continue the next chapter of her journey in London.
I really enjoy the environment; I also really enjoy Tamsin’s coaching. I know I had a little bit at the Youth World Cup. She really takes her time to study each player individually and try to get the best out of them.
Internationally, Egbaran helped England secure bronze at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games before progressing through the Roses Academy and into the Future Roses programme. She was also part of the senior England squad that claimed bronze at the 2024 FAST5 Netball World Series, highlighting her growing reputation as one of the country’s brightest young attacking talents.
After featuring for Birmingham Panthers’ NXT Gen side in 2026, Egbaran stepped into the NSL squad as a temporary replacement before returning to London Mavericks midway through the season to provide cover for the injured Emma Thacker. During her four appearances for Mavericks, she shot at an impressive 87% accuracy while sinking nine Super Shots, making an immediate impact in teal. Now back with the club for the 2027 campaign, Egbaran brings valuable NSL experience, exciting attacking flair and plenty of potential as she continues her development at the highest level.

After impressing during a mid-season spell with the club in 2026, Ellie Sadler has signed a full contract with London Mavericks ahead of the new campaign.
The defender initially joined as cover for Razia Quashie and quickly established herself as a key part of the Mavericks defensive unit, earning a permanent place in the squad.
Ellie reveals why she chose to return to Mavericks and continue building on her breakthrough season.
For me it was definitely a no-brainer; as soon as I found out, I was like absolutely! I think I had such a great entry into the team, signing mid-season and getting to join last year was so brilliant; every single person was so welcoming, I love all the girls, the coaching is phenomenal, I feel so perfectly suited to this environment, it’s fantastic!
A product of London Pulse’s NXT Gen programme, the Wimbledon-born defender has enjoyed a rapid rise through the game, embracing her height as a major strength while progressing from club netball to England age-group honours.
Sadler has also excelled on the international stage, helping Team England secure a bronze medal at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.
