Bio
A versatile South African defender, Jamie Golob plays GD and WD and was named Best Defender in South Africa’s Division 1 in 2025. She made her debut for the Gauteng Jaguars in 2019, later captaining the side, and was recognised that same year as the best Player at both the U19 and U21 national tournaments.
Jamie also represented the Spar Proteas junior squad for three consecutive seasons before stepping up to the senior team. Her consistent rise saw her make her Spar Proteas debut in 2021, establishing herself as one of South Africa’s most promising defensive talents.

Jamie Golob returns for the 2027 season after making a standout impact during her debut campaign with Mavericks. The South African defender arrived from the country’s top division and quickly established herself as a key figure in the defensive unit, bringing athleticism, composure and leadership to the side.
Jamie’s performances throughout 2026 were recognised across the club, as she was named Mavericks Fans’ Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Coaches’ Player of the Year. Her impressive season also saw her selected in the League’s Team of the Round in Round 9, where she produced a dominant display with nine gains, three intercepts and two tips.
On the international stage, Jamie represented South Africa at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, helping the Spar Proteas secure a fifth-place finish and taking on the captaincy role during parts of the tournament.
A commanding presence in defence, Golob will once again be a crucial part of Mavericks’ ambitions as the team looks to build towards the 2027 season.
