Josie Huckle

Bio

One of the Netball Super League’s most experienced and reliable defenders, Josie Huckle returns to London Mavericks ahead of the 2027 season, bringing more than a decade of top-flight experience and a proven winning pedigree.

Huckle began her NSL journey with Mavericks in 2012 before establishing herself as one of the league’s standout defenders. She enjoyed title-winning success with Surrey Storm in 2015 and 2016 before helping Wasps secure back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018. She later captained the side during its final campaign in 2022.

A move to Manchester Thunder followed in 2023, initially joining as a training partner before earning a full squad place. She quickly became a key figure in Thunder’s defence, helping the club secure a third-place finish in her first season before reaching the Grand Final in 2024. Named vice-captain in 2025, Huckle led the squad statistically for interceptions, deflections, gains and pickups, underlining her reputation as one of the league’s most influential defenders.

Her domestic performances also earned international recognition with the England Roses, making her senior debut in 2017 and helping England win the Europe Open Championship.
