Emily Andrew

Bio

Born in New York but raised in South-East Melbourne, Emily Andrew’s netball journey has been firmly rooted in the Victorian pathway. Her career took off in the Victorian Netball League in 2019, and she quickly rose through the ranks, representing Victoria at the 17/U level in 2020 and at the 19/U level in 2021 and 2022 at the National Netball Championships. In 2022, she was part of the Victorian team that won bronze at the 19/U National Championships and earned a spot in the 19/U National Squad.

Emily joined the Melbourne Vixens as a squad member in 2022, where her impressive height and versatility as a shooter earned her two call-ups to the matchday squad in 2023 as a temporary replacement player. Her talent and potential were further recognized when she was selected as the 11th player for the Vixens’ 2024 season.

Talking about the Mavericks’ new Australian shooter, Greenway said:

“Shooters like Emily are hard to find – big, tall, and strong, with the versatility to be both a target and a moving shooter. What excites me about Emily is her ability to excel in both roles,” Greenway commented. She can stand and hold and be dominant, and she can move, offload and work an open circle. Emily has been with Vixens all year as their 11th player, training with them so knows the environment. She won player of the tournament in the VNL Australian Netball Championships the season before and if you look at the names of players who have come through that, they’ve gone on to do great things. When I spoke with Emily, she embodied everything I look for in a player.”
